Palliative care is about comfort, dignity and making the most of each day. Our experienced team provides gentle, compassionate support at home, helping people and their families navigate this time with reassurance, respect and care.
No two families experience this time in the same way. Whether you need a few hours of support each week or more continuous care, we're here to provide practical help, a reassuring presence and support that adapts as needs change.
Our caregivers are chosen for their kindness, empathy and ability to provide calm, compassionate support during life's most difficult moments.
We know this is a difficult time for everyone. Alongside caring for your loved one, we're here to support family members with respite, practical help and reassurance.
Mark has a terminal illness and has chosen to spend his final months at home, surrounded by the people and place he loves. Hospice nurses visit regularly to review his symptoms, adjust his care plan and support his family. Between those visits, Haven Care provides the practical and compassionate day-to-day support that helps Mark remain as comfortable as possible.
Each morning, Mark's caregiver helps him wash, dress and settle into his favourite chair. Following guidance from the hospice nurse, they encourage gentle movement when he feels up to it, helping him enjoy simple pleasures like sitting in the garden with a cup of tea or spending time with his family.
As Mark's illness progresses, he spends more time resting. The caregiver watches for changes in his comfort, signs of pain, increasing fatigue or reduced appetite, sharing these observations promptly with his family and hospice team so his care can be adjusted if needed.
Throughout the day, Mark is gently repositioned, offered drinks and light meals, and supported to rest comfortably. Some days are spent chatting or listening to music; on others, quiet companionship is all that's needed.
With Haven Care working alongside hospice, Mark's family can spend less time worrying about the practical aspects of care and more time simply being together—sharing memories, holding his hand and making the most of each day.
We understand that this is an emotional and uncertain time. We’re here to bring a calm, reassuring presence at home, helping with the everyday things that matter and working alongside family, hospice and other health professionals. Most importantly, we want families to have more time and space to simply be together.
